Standing out in corporate wear

If you are an office worker like me, the majority of your wardrobe is taken up with blacks, whites, greys and the occasional navy!  Being fashion-forward while remaining corporate doesn’t always go easily hand in hand (especially if you are colour adverse like me!).  Just because you work in an office environment doesn’t mean you have to look like a clone of the person in the next cubicle.  I look for a point of interest when shopping for work attire to help me stand out in corporate wear – a flared sleeve, an eye-catching embellishment, distinctive cut or unique fabric.  Just because you have a subdued dress code doesn’t mean it has to be boring.

Today I’ve opted for an off-the-shoulder blouse which is traditionally NOT an office appropriate item however the dark colour, bold corporate stripes and button cuff features make it suitable for a more relaxed work place.  As the blouse is only borderline acceptable I’ve kept the rest of the outfit toned down with plain cropped fitted trousers, black pumps and my everyday plain black tote.

A big welcome to my first designer purchase of the year – Valentino Rockstuds, welcome to the family!  They have to be THE most comfortable pair of heels I own.  I’ve been in turmoil over this purchase for some time as the studs and contrasting colours were a bit OTT for my taste which is generally more minimal but I have to say they have fit right into my existing wardrobe seamlessly and the craftsmanship is amazing.

Let me know what you think, would you wear this look to your office?
