Happy Tight Ass Tuesday, today’s outfit styled for under $104. Cotton On have launched an affordable range of 90s inspired jeans that are a modern take on 90s fashion, including double denims, front creases, denim patchwork, high waisted cuts, straight leg and mum styles. I grew up in the 90s, a time of recording songs off the radio (while avoiding the ads) with your cassette player, of writing letter to your pen pal (what up Fi!), playing handball at big lunch and instead of sexting each other from under the desk at school we were sneakily trying to feed our Tamagochi so it didn’t die by recess. Such fond memories of a less complicated time. Even though 90s fashion remains questionable, I welcome it with open arms as it’s like a throwback to a happy childhood.
These ones are my favourite from the Cotton On range; the skinny fit still makes them flattering and modern while the mid rise and double denim stitched together both front and back make for a real point of interest as a throw back to the 90s. The darker denim outer panels also create an optical illusion on slimmer legs and the super stretchy denim means I can comfortably chase the kids around.
If it were truly the 90s I’d probably pair these jeans with a fitted, cropped turtle neck tee but thankfully the trend is only 90s inspired and not full 90s! A simple relaxed fit shirt adds a minimalist touch and leaves the floor free so the jeans do the talking.
