A touch of suede

Suede… often associated with old Western movies and cowboys…  Current day suede actually looks nothing like a cowboy movie, it blends with almost any outfit adding a touch of decadence or statement but not over-selling itself, it still remains subtle which is what I like.  Generally found in the muted colours of tan, beige or taupe it’s so versatile.  With supple, soft, stretchiness as well as warmth, it’s such an ideal investment for the chilly months.

While you could fully embrace suede in head to toe suede catsuits and dresses, I like to keep my accents minimal.  I’m loving the “just a touch” approach to styling suede.  Just a statement jacket, a suede skirt (like I’m wearing) or my favourite, a luscious pair of over-the-knee suede boots – less vampish than leather with more sophistication.  The styling I’ve opted for today is a relaxed outfit that mixes textures.  From the leather of my cropped jacket to the silk of my cami and the suede of my skirt.  All textures are subtle yet luxurious.
Let’s just take a few moments to celebrate my jacket.  A genuine leather jacket has been on my must-have list for so long though I’m always dissuaded by the price.  I picked up this beautiful cropped jacket at last years Vogue Online Shopping Night (VOSN) at a discounted price of only $120.  Made from genuine leather, the jacket itself is cut into the perfect fit with super slim line arms and minimal silhouette.  It’s perfect for throwing on over a dress or tee and at $120 was great value.
