The Oversized Scarf

A trend we saw over winter was the oversized scarf, the bigger the better.  This look however has continued to get my vote over this very fickle spring (apparently the coldest October since the 90’s).  Embrace these chilly Spring mornings and take your blanket with you  for a snuggly bundled up look.  Effortless tousled is the look to aim for, there is no prescribed way of tying or wrapping ones scarf.  Be it tartan, chunky knit, plain luxe cashmere or even faux fur, this look works with all textures.  With such a large scarf you can use it as a wrap or once the day finally warms up, ditch it completely.

I believe the blanket scarf is a natural progression from the recent blanket cape trend and so naturally instead of purchasing a new one I’ve repurposed my cape (previously worn here) which has worked perfectly.  I can wear it hanging freely from my neck or wrap multiple times around my neck for that big voluminous  look I love.

My only tips for the styling oversized scarves is keeping the rest of your outfit minimal and let your neckwear take centre stage, this most definitely applies to  jewellery, especially dangly earrings.  Lastly I think this look best works with a pair of heels as it is more balanced and reduces the hobo/grandma tendencies of wearing your bedding around your neck!
