Fashion – The Choker blouse

Before I launch into fashion talk I just want to highlight how much I love the above image!  When you are a fashion blogger you have pretty high standards on how you want to be photographed but whenever you ask someone to take your photo you somehow end up looking like a rabid squirrel.  It truly helps when your closest friends are a photographer and makeup artist, and just to set the record straight I was friends with Cat Leedon Photography and KM Makeup before either of them entered their chosen fields.  In fact we used to all work together during our awkward teenage years behind the candybar at Hoyts Cinemas, possibly the best job I have and will ever have!  I love that we all got to work together again for this photoshoot and love even more that all three of us get to explore our creative paths in our own ways, xox.

Lets talk outfit, two pieces that have been on high rotation this summer for me is the choker style top, available from Runway Scout and the One Teaspoon Bandit shorts, available directly from One Teaspoon.
I love the top as it’s essentially just a sleeveless blouse – easy to wear, light and comfortable.  The choker style of the cut however make it quite unique and dressed up.  I have paired with a pencil skirt for work, with black skinny jeans for dinner and today with my denim shorts for something a bit more weekend friendly.
The shorts are a cult fave of many bloggers and the secret is to get one size up for a slightly oversized look. They are so comfy and versatile and I know many people aren’t a fan of the “pockets out” look but they are easily pinned up with a safety pin if preferred.  The hem of the shorts are ever so slightly scooped meaning while they are fairly short at the front there is sufficient coverage at the back to avoid the “festival bum cheek” look.
