Having a baby changes the way you live your life, everyone knows this however it doesn’t stop me from being surprised at how much things have changed and how much you miss the small things. For me, I miss the quiet moments of thoughtfulness or of contented silence. Weekends spent with my husband eating breakfast for lunch, having nanna naps in the afternoon or watching back to back episodes of trash TV because we didn’t feel like changing out of our pyjamas. Motherhood thus far has left me at times feeling a bit unfocused, like I’ve lost a sense of direction and identity.
Reclaiming myself is a slow process however in small moments like this one I feel that nothing has really changed, it’s just that your old self gets pushed aside for endless laundry, analysing poop colour, sterilizing bottles and pureeing pears. The brief childless 2 hours I had with hubby on this particular afternoon felt like coming up for air but these small moments are what keeps us in touch with ourselves, never underestimate value of taking a small break.
I am a big fan of knitwear by Dotti, they have a broad range of styles and I find the quality quite impressive for the price. They currently have 40% off a large range of knitwear and I took advantage and pretty much updated my entire collection of knit jumpers (it needed to be done, I have two cats!). The one I am wearing is the Lady Camille Cable jumper, sold out online but possibly still available in store. It’s the perfect knit for soothing weekends such as this one, soft chunky knit, relaxed fit and high rolled neck. I’ve teamed it with some bright whites for a soft colour palette though I think it would also pair well with warm tans for another great casual option.
