This season has seen a 90’s revival with the rebirth of the overalls (or dungarees if you prefer). I have fond memories of my 90’s overalls, they were absolutely my favourite item of clothing and I loved pairing them with my baby pink ribbed roll neck t-shirt. Here, I’ve even found some evidence of this on-trend ensemble!
As cool as they were these overalls did provide me with some rather dramatic problems for a primary schooler.
A) Reaching for things on the top shelf or bending to do your shoe lace would result in mega wedgies.
B) You pretty much had to get undressed just to pee.
C) Once you had managed to get undressed to pee it was not uncommon for your overall strap to fall into the toilet bowl!
Ah so young and already a slave to fashion.
So will I be bringing back my pre-teen swag? Truth be told I don’t know that I can! Pushing 30 and fretting about my laundry schedule takes some punch out of the attitude needed to pull off this “too cool for school” look. I am indeed not too cool for school, I am a geek.
|Today’s overalls are much trendier than my old ones…
So the debate still rages on in my head but if you guys are up for a 90’s reunion I’ve tracked down some bargain buys in the one piece department! The overall revival plays on a relaxed, boyfriend fit style offering a care free look. The bib can be worn one strapped for an even more laid back look and I’m especially loving distressing details and low slung crotch (solves problem A above). The overall shorts seem to be a popular choice too, worn over a bikini makes a really cute beach cover-up or festival outfit.
