Fashion – Maxi Power

Maxi dresses do not the get spotlight that they deserve.  Sure they are perfect for a Sunday sesh in the afternoon sun but what most people forget is they can also be dressed up for a laid back work place, dressed down for a music festival or styled to fully embrace the boho culture that they are synonymous with.  And that’s exactly what I did!

The dress used throughout is the tribal aztec print maxi by Ally – $29.95 – available here

Boho girl

Most people wear their maxi’s this way, maybe not completely boho as I have done however worn simply with thongs or sandals it’s a very pretty, easy and comfortable weekend look.

The Tom Boy

Maxi’s don’t always have to be worn in a feminine way.  I like to tie the bottom of my maxi in a knot and wear them with sneakers.  Thus making the maxi more functional for the active types, great for music festivals, doing your groceries, walking the dog…  Don’t forget  that it’s not only jackets you can wear over maxi’s, t-shirts and singlets are great items to mix and match.

Corporate casuals
Most girls don’t consider maxi’s a part of their office wardrobe as they are much too casual, show too much skin and look un-professional.  I on the other hand love to team my maxi with a sharp cut blazer and some polished accessories and I think it makes for the perfect outfit for the casual work place.  I probably wouldn’t recommend doing this if you are a lawyer, consultant or doctor!
