Travel – Sawadee Ka!

So the first week of Autumn and what do I do?  Leave Australia and chase the sun north to Thailand and Singapore of course.  Well the real reason for this mini break was my dear friend Kay’s 30th which was in fact on Christmas Day last year which always makes it difficult to celebrate.  Though I have been to both countries before, Kay has never travelled overseas so what better way to celebrate this ripe old milestone than to jet off on a girly holiday!

Some highlights from the trip included snorkelling Phi Phi Islands, visiting an elephant sanctuary, bargaining hard for $4 singlets and thongs, jumping off the back of the yacht at sunset, Marina Bay Sands swimming pool, drooling over all the luxury boutiques, Universal Studios Singapore, swimming with a school of squid in the Similan Islands, splitting my dress as the zoo because I ate too much… Just to name a few.  Kay always says that she opts to stay at home rather than go out to save money because in 20 years time she won’t remember what she missed out on but she will own her home.  I hope that this trip has shown her that good times are just as important for your soul as possessions and that these memories will last her a life time and make her smile when she is old and grey.  Happy 30th Kay, what a way to end your 20’s!

As you all know I’m not much of a writer (weird for a blogger) so I’ll let my pictures do most of the talking 🙂  Stupidly I packed my SLR but failed to bring either the battery or charger so the images aren’t the best quality.

Also, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s impossible to look good at the airport.  It you are going to be wearing the same clothes for 20 odd hours they may as well be comfortable!  I love Jenna Marbles “what bitches wear to the airport” video, my sentiments exactly!

Our birthday surprise for Kay, a night at the amazing Marina Bay Sands.  She cried 🙂

Words cannot explain how amazing the Marina Bay Sands infinity pool was and even my photos will not suffice as I was too gobsmacked to manage to pull off a good shot, so here are some images prepared earlier by a professional photographer.  I highly recommend staying here, not for the hotel but for this world famous pool!

So as you could probably guess, I did an immense amount shopping!   A post about my holiday “haul” coming soon 😉
