Tight Ass Tuesday – Frugal Fitness

With the New Year comes resolutions related to fitness and health.  There has been a huge influx of gym newbies at my local Fitness First, all decked out head to toe in expensive gym outfits, sporting the latest in high tech sneakers, all shiny and new!

Today’s Tight Ass Tuesday is dedicated to the gym newcomers!  I find that wearing a hot gym outfit can be just as motivating as staring at a screen saver of a Victoria’s Secret model (my secret weapon!)Just because you are working out does not mean it has to be in an old t-shirt and track pants, it also does not mean that you have to spend hundreds of dollars on the latest season lycra ensembles from Lululemon and Lorna Jane.

One of my favourite budget shops for trendy sportswear is actually Cotton On.  They have a great range of sports bras, tights, run shorts and all in the latest on trend colours and designs.  In a lot of cases the fabric is quick dry, light, incorporates ventilation design to keep you cool and comfortable.

Active Booster sports crop in Coral by Cotton On – Currently on sale for $10
Sophia Short in Distressed Tropical Ink print by Cotton On – $15 (current deal of 2 pairs for $30)
Outfit total = $25

Now you’ll notice that I cheated a bit in this post as I did not include shoes in my outfit.  This is simply because I go to the gym 5 days a week and choose to invest heavily in my footwear to avoid injury.

HOWEVER, my tip for discount atheltic shoes is to sign up to discount sites such as BrandsExclusive, OzSale and Catch of the Day as the regularly play host to sales by the industry’s biggest names.  Catch of the Day currently have a sale on Nike sportswear and I found a pair of Nike Lunarglides for only $119.95.  What a steal!
