Hair – Balayage

This has been a massive trend in which I’m more than a little late to the party!  We saw this ombre trend really take off last year and the reason it has taken me so long to jump on board is that when this style is done badly, it’s done really badly!

Some shockers that I’ve see look like extreme regrowth or an accidental fall into a bleach bath!

All sorts of wrong!
I love Drew but this hair is just terrible
Jessie J – My most hated thing about some balayage’s is “the line”, a major lack of gradient.

When done correctly however the idea is that the colour should softly graduate from dark to light, highlighting and softening around the face.  I especially like when the effect is subtle.  Here are some of my favourites:

In abolute hair envy of Ms Biel
Vanessa Hudson proves that balayage can still be classy and sultry
The ever fabulous SJP with subtle beach hair inspired balayage, perfect!

Luckily for me, my hairdresser Emma from Next Hair in Braddon is amazing with colour and understood when I said that I wanted a very subtle gradation.  I’m so happy with my results – cue many a photograph of my new hair!
