Fashion – Sift Recycled Boutique

A colleague of mine told me her niece had opened a pre-loved clothing store in Gold Creek so this weekend I took advantage of the sunshine and headed out that way for some lunch, a beer and to check out the store.

SIFT Recycled Boutique is tucked away behind the George Harcourt Inn.  Admittedly it is a bit hard to find unless you are looking for it but the bright green exterior of the shop makes it hard to miss!
The shop was a lovely little surprise of a store and not what I expected at all.  For the regular pre-loved clothing shoppers, shopping often seems like a bit of a lucky dip.  You have to dig through loads of tweed, corduroy and mothballs to find that one gem.  At SIFT the cloths are well displayed, relatively in season and clean (I did not smell a single mothball!).  They had plenty of items for those who are not into vintage with plenty of brands such as Wish, Zara, Bardot, Sass and Bide, Asos, Tigerlily and more!

I picked up this fantastic little designer outfit for an amazing $40!

Josh Goot ponti tights with croc panels – $30
Guess beaded oversized singlet – $10

What I love even more about this store is the concept;  Sift is a consignment store which essentially means they will sell stuff on your behalf!  You can drop in a load of your own items, agree on a sale price and if it does sell you will receive 60% of the sale price.  If it doesn’t sell then you can either pick it up or Sift will give it to charity on your behalf.  There is no risk to the seller and is a great opportunity for hoarders to off load some quality unwanted items.  In addition to selling pre-loved items, Sift also showcases local designers who specialise in ‘up-cycling’.

Make a day of it, head out to Gold Creek for some lunch then pay Louise and the Sift girls a visit.  Bring some of your own stuff and hopefully leave with something new stuff too.  A lovely little store that is conscious of reuse and recycle 🙂
