Food – Versatile restaurant

I have an addiction… to online restaurant vouchers!!  I purchase so many and more often than not they end up being to rather dud places… all part of the mystery I guess 😉

So my latest purchase was to Versatile Restaurant which has recently opened in Gold Creek.  Located above Adore Tea it was quite hard to find with no obvious signage.  The venue looks like it operates as a function room by day and restaurant by night, thus lending to a fairly sparse decor.
I ordered rabbit, pork and pistachio nut terrine served with a duck liver pate, peach chilli chutney and crisp bread.  This is the second time I’ve tried a terrine and though this one was quite tasty I just don’t think I’m a fan of a cold dinner dish.

For main I opted for a prosciutto wrapped beef fillet with pumpkin and caraway seed mash, topped with onion jam and crispy fried leek.  It was DELICIOUS!  The beef was so tender and the prosciutto provided a salty tang that was perfectly offset with the sweet onion jam.  I was tempted to lick my plate clean.  I also ordered a side of apple and fennel salad and it came fresh and crisp, an ideal accompaniment to my heavy meal.

Dessert – every girls favourite part of a dining experience.  I chose a vanilla semifreddo with mixed berries atop a rosewater meringue.  I nearly smashed my plate in half with every spoonful.  The semifreddo was firm and the meringue crisp on the outside and ever so slightly chewy within.  I would definately return to Versatile just for this one dish…  Overall a 7.5 out of 10, and willing to upgrade them to an 8.5 if they get an interior designer!  One of the best Groupon, Scoopon, LivingSocial,OutInDeals I’ve ever experienced.
